Chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus is a condition in which the hair follicle is not primarily affected with inflammation. A lesion begins as a round macule or papule that enlarges into a patch with erythema. Symptoms are typical as for any other cicatricial alopecia – itching, pain, burning and tenderness. Hyperpigmentation is seen in the alopecic patches.
